At the University of Mixology, she struggled to become an official bartender and was still on her “I-did-it” high, when her boyfriend, Ty Cameron, and Sarah Covington—who didn’t know the UM initials didn’t refer to the University of Michigan—overheard.
Fast forward, way passed the graduation party that her boyfriend threw for her and the great gifts for her accomplishment that wasn’t a business degree, to Sarah Covington’s surprise. To keep Haley from working in the same place as Ty, Sarah snagged an interview opportunity for Haley. At Dempsey Rowland.
The salaries were high at this firm—pushing Haley’s imaginary bag purchases even higher, and she couldn’t turn down the job offer, right?
Meanwhile, it wasn’t until orientation Haley finds out about the necessary security clearance. The UM mix-up would get her canned before she drew her first paycheck. However, when Haley finds the head of the security department, Violet Hamilton, dead, she is closer to the door than ever.
Violet would have done the background check on Haley and the other new employees, and Haley’s new boss is accusing her of murder!
Once the police arrive, this new job is almost as cold as the body.
