My Look:

Have you ever let someone assume something? Did you regret it? Unfortunately, Haley Randolph could’ve settled the whole misinformation thing, but she loved the accolades from her boyfriend. Anyway, who knew one thing would lead to another to involve her in murder, again!

It started out simple enough. Haley started on a path to change her life; it’s a good thing, right?

Not that her twenty-four years of living was a total disaster you see, but she wanted more than what she had. This was a start. Now, she’d just graduated from UM. At the University of Mixology, she struggled to become an official bartender and was still on her “I-did-it” high, when her boyfriend, Ty Cameron, and Sarah Covington—who didn’t know the UM initials didn’t refer to the University of Michigan—overheard.

Fast forward, way passed the graduation party that her boyfriend threw for her and the great gifts for her accomplishment that wasn’t a business degree, to Sarah Covington’s surprise. To keep Haley from working in the same place as Ty, Sarah snagged an interview opportunity for Haley. At Dempsey Rowland.

The salaries were high at this firm—pushing Haley’s imaginary bag purchases even higher, and she couldn’t turn down the job offer, right?

Meanwhile, it wasn’t until orientation Haley finds out about the necessary security clearance. The UM mix-up would get her canned before she drew her first paycheck. However, when Haley finds the head of the security department, Violet Hamilton, dead, she is closer to the door than ever.

Violet would have done the background check on Haley and the other new employees, and Haley’s new boss is accusing her of murder!

Once the police arrive, this new job is almost as cold as the body.

My Take:

TOTE BAGS AND TOE TAGS by Dorothy Howell is humor filled cozy that will keep you turning pages, and Dorothy Howell’s Haley Randolph is a hoot!

At twenty-four, Haley is already a handbag aficionado who’s just trying change her life by doing the reverse of what she’s been doing. Getting into trouble consistently and in the most hysterical ways, Haley can’t seem to separate herself from murder, missing persons, and mayhem.

TOTE BAGS AND TOE TAGS is a standalone title, but you’ll want to read more of Haley Randolph’s adventures including CLUTCHES AND CURSES (Kensington-reprint-edition 2012), SHOULDER BAGS AND SHOOTINGS (Kensington-reprint edition-2011), PURSES AND POISON (Kensington-reprint edition-2010), and HANDBAGS AND HOMICIDE (Kensington-reprint edition- 2009).
