GIVEAWAY WINNER of THE SCOOP by Fern Michaels

On 04/27/12, I blogged a book review about THE SCOOP by Fern Michaels.  This post featured a book giveaway courtesy of Kensington Publishers.

Picking the winner of this giveaway was a complicated process and not at all scientific.

  1. I printed out the eligible comments (on plain white paper).

  2. My dear husband folded the printed sheets and put them inside a large plastic baseball cap (his favorite team—NY Mets).

  3. I added homemade confetti (saved scraps from a hole punch), and he added Jelly Beans.  I placed an over sized piece of plastic wrap on top, and he secured it underneath with tape before  handing his precious plastic cap over to me.

  4. Shaking the cap first up and down then side to side, I handed it back to my spouse. Gripping its sides tight, he shook the cap, while I made one complete clockwise spin.  Then I closed my eyes.  One of our witnesses removed the wrapping and led my hand to the cap.  While others drummed on the kitchen table, I put my hand inside.

  5. In front three adult witnesses, a barking dog, and two rugrats, I withdrew a winner and some jelly beans. While my eyes were still closed, a witness took the paper from my hand.

  6. I took my seat and joined the others in more drumming before he announced the name of this contest winner . . .

And the winner is: Nancee.

Nancee, you will receive an email providing instructions on how to collect your book.

****I feel obligated to impart that my dear hubby, witnesses, and kids did receive payment for their services (all were treated to an elegant dining experience of spaghetti and meatballs), but I was under obligation to choose any certain name.  My choice was random and so were the jellybeans.****

WINNER of the SUMMER OF SECRETS Giveaway!

On 04/15/12, I blogged a post about my book review of SUMMER OF SECRETS by Charlotte Hubbard, and I hosted a book giveaway courtesy of Kensington Books!

Picking the winner was a complicated process and not at all scientific.

  1. I printed out the eligible comments.

  2. I folded the printed sheets and wrapped them around miniature chocolate bars; these Hershey bars were all the same size and shape.  Next, I wrapped those bars in yellow wrapping paper.

  3. Before my helpful assistant and two adults arrived, I placed the yellow wrapped goodies into a bag and added some recycled packaging peanuts.

  4. One of the adults shook the bag up and down. The next adult shook the bag side to side and handed it off to my trusty assistant.  She made two giggle filled spins around the room and danced the sack over to me as we applauded.

  5. I opened the bag.  The appointed adult reached in and pulled out one yellow wrapped candy bar with a handful of packing materials.  She gave the candy bar to our mutual friend for the unwrapping.

  6. My trusty assistant blew a whistle before the reading. In front of two adult witnesses and the whistle-blower, she announced . . .

And the winner is: BILL McCURRY

Bill, you will receive an email providing instructions on how to collect your book.

Winner of the T. Greenwood multi-book giveaway!

On 03/29/12, Author, T. Greenwood blogged a post about the true events leading to her latest release, GRACE.  This post featured a multi-book giveaway courtesy of Kensington Books. Picking the winner was a complicated process and not at all scientific.

  1. I printed out all eligible comments.

  2. I folded the printed sheets then lined an Easter egg shaped cardboard box with homemade confetti. (These small colorful rounds were specially produced for this task with a special group of friends, using three hole punches on pages of used coloring books until our arms ached!)

  3. Next, my husband placed the folded sheets into the box and the group watched as I added more artful confetti.

  4. A friend’s spouse did the honors of shaking the box from side to side (a timed full minute), up and down (a timed full minute) before handing the container back to my spouse. While swooshing it around, dear hubby made two complete spins around the room before handing the box to me.

  5. Another friend consented to a blindfold (a store-bought sleep mask with no holes).  I transferred the box to her spouse who removed the lid.  After we all did a countdown from ten, she reached in and pulled out a name.  With eyes still covered, she held out the paper for another friend to take.

  6. That friend handed the paper off to my spouse.

  7. Now released from her eye restraints, she joined the rest us in sounding a drum roll before the official reading. In front the group, dear hubby made the official announcement . . .

And the winner is: Joyce Best!

Joyce, you will receive an email providing instructions on how to collect your books—
